A law firm located in Houston is seeking a Business Development Manager to add to their team.In this position, you will be responsible for integrating and expanding business development efforts for the firm’s transactional practice groups. The Business Development Manager will work closely with practice group and section leaders, senior business development and marketing staff and firm management to develop and manage a strategic and innovative business development plan and related projects and activities that position the firm’s transaction practice as among the most respected internationally.
Essential Job Functions (Primary Duties and Responsibilities)
• Develop a comprehensive strategic business development plan for the firm's transaction practices that positions the firm as a top tier full service provider for current and prospective corporate clients
• Identify strategic business development opportunities for the transaction practice groups through the analysis of data on existing clients and through the research and analysis of data on potential clients
• Develop proposals and RFP responses for transaction clients; track success ratio of same
• Develop and maintain corporate industry-specific marketing/web content for relevant practice sections
• Identify opportunities for and coordinate/manage with events staff all transaction-related events, including practice-specific seminars, industry sponsorships and the firm's presence at various conferences and Bracewell sponsored seminars/breakfasts
• Strategically expand the firm’s email database of industry decision makers, working with attorneys to develop a regular series of electronic updates to advise current clients and increase our exposure to non clients
• Coordinate with Communications staff to identify and pursue PR opportunities in key publications, industry surveys, and legal directories
• Elevate the firm’s national and international standing among third party rating services that focus on transaction/contract/finance law; including Chambers, Euromoney/PLC and Legal 500, among others.
• Develop and manage individual practice group budgets to support the strategic business development plans for each practice group.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with a degree in Business, Marketing or Communications a plus.
Minimum experience: Candidate should have 10+ years of marketing in a professional services environment, ideally within a large law firm, professional services industry experience. Progressive responsibility over career desired. 5+ years experience is also required, preferably in a marketing, communications, public affairs or business development role.
Strong skills in MS Office. Knowledge of web-based legal and business resources, such as InterAction, Lexis-Nexis, Hoover’s, LivEdgar, WestLaw and others a plus.
